Tips for making SVG Box Templates easier to fold

This post will show you an easy tip to make SVG box templates easier to fold when creating 3D boxes with heavier cardboard. This one extra step will also make the fold lines have crisp clean edges, which can be difficult with thicker material.

The easiest way is to do a manual score line after you cut the SVG box template with your digital cutter.

You can purchase a board specifically for scoring or some desktop paper cutters have an option to use a scoring blade.

Extra scoring tools for SVG boxes
  • Cut the SVG box template as usual with your digital cutter.
  • Remove the template from the mat.
  • Place the template on the scoring board, and go over the dotted cut lines with the score tool.
  • That’s all there is to it! Your SVG box templates should now be much easier to fold.
  • Check out the pictures below to see the difference.
