How To Resize SVG Box Dividers - FCM Format Included

This post is to help you resize our SVG Box Dividers. They were created so you can resize them to use with any of our SVG boxes. (FCM format is also included.)

There are three variations for the box dividers, so you will have plenty of options for customizing your boxes. There are 4, 6, and 9 compartment dividers. This means once the dividers are assembled and placed in the completed 3D box you will have 4 compartments, 6 or 9 compartments
inside the box.

First I would like to point out each template comes with little tabs that are separate pieces. These were left as separate pieces for two reasons.
First, you don’t have to attach the divider to the box if you do not want to use the tabs. Second, by making the tabs separate it will be easier to resize the SVG box dividers to fit accurately in different size boxes.

Although I am using Silhouette Studio for my pictures, the guidelines are the same. Just put the dimensions in your program’s appropriate spot for sizing SVG templates.

**When adjusting the size of the dividers you need to know the measurements for your completed box.
As a review: a 4x6x2 box has a 4 inch wide side, a 6 inch wide side, and the box is 2 inches high. We will use this size box for the following examples.

Resize the 4 Compartment SVG Box Divider:

  1. Adjust one of the rectangle pieces to have the dimensions of 4 inches wide by 2 inches high.
  2. Adjust the second rectangle piece to have the dimensions of 6 inches wide by 2 inches high.
  3. The only adjustment needed for the tabs is on the HEIGHT. You do not need to change the width unless you prefer a wider tab to glue to the box. On the example above you would set the height on the tabs to 2 inches.

Resize the 6 Compartment SVG Box Divider:

(with the long divider running with the long measurement of the box)

  1. Adjust the two shorter rectangle pieces to have the dimensions of 4 inches wide by 2 inches high.
  2. Adjust the longer rectangle piece to have the dimensions of 6 inches wide by 2 inches high.
  3. The only adjustment needed for the tabs is on the HEIGHT. (You do not need to change the width unless you prefer a wider tab to glue to the box.) On the example above you would set the height on the tabs to 2 inches.

Resize the 9 Compartment SVG Box Divider:

  1. Adjust two of the rectangle pieces to have the dimensions of 4 inches wide by 2 inches high.
  2. Adjust the other two rectangle piece to have the dimensions of 6 inches wide by 2 inches high.
  3. The only adjustment needed for the tabs is on the HEIGHT. (You do not need to change the width unless you prefer a wider tab to glue to the box.) On the example above you would set the height on the tabs to 2 inches.

Example for changing the height:

This example will use a 4x4x4 SVG Box and a 4 Compartment Box Divider.

  1. Adjust the two rectangle pieces to have the dimensions of 4 inches wide by 4 inches high.
  2. The only adjustment needed for the tabs is on the HEIGHT. (You do not need to change the width unless you prefer a wider tab to glue to the box. ) On this example you would set the height on the tab to 4 inches. Repeat this for all 4 tabs.

Notice the difference when changing the height on the tabs if you lock the aspect ration verses not locking it. Locking the aspect ratio, if you increase the height, will make the tabs wider. If you do not lock the aspect ratio, it will stay skinny. (Sorry the cut template is hard to see.)

I hope this tutorial was helpful and you are able to create many different options to customize your boxes. If you have any further questions please contact my using our Contact Page or via email at support@svgboxcuts.com.
